Well, you are in the right place because in this post I will give you loads of them and you can start with no or minimal investments. Whether you have extra time or you’re in “lockdown” during a pandemic period-must stay at home, you can get extra or full-time income depending on which route you will go and how much effort you will put in.
Table of Contents:
1. Start a blog
Having your own internet real estate is a huge benefit for you looking at the long-term perspective. Millions of queries are made on Google daily about every single topic or problem- people looking for information, a solution for a specific problem, or straight for product/service purchase.
Pick a niche- make sure you know at least something about it or you have passion- otherwise you may quickly get bored and exhausted from making research and learning yourself.
Get a domain name- there are lots of registrars, but I recommend NameCheap. Why? The company sells domain names at reasonable prices compared to others and will give you domain privacy for free.
Hosting- this is where your domain will be parked and all content stored. Get BlueHost account for as little as $3.95 a month. Install WordPress content management system and you are ready to go.
In this case, your domain and content- all belong to you and you will have more flexibility compared to other methods I will show you.
What if you can’t invest even a dime and want to start free?- You can start writing on medium.com or contribute to other blogs. However, keep in mind you will not have full control over your own content and monetization methods, configuration, design, authority, etc.
2. Start YouTube channel
YouTube is a second search engine after Google and you can find videos probably about everything you can imagine. This is one of the best ways to get eyeballs on your content- people love to watch videos.
No, you don’t need to buy expensive video-making equipment for a gazillion of dollars- it is enough for your phone to start.
You don’t have to be some sort of “guru” to create short or even long videos- yes quality of information and attractive character matters. So if you’re making a video about how to make pancakes- add something special to the recipe to differentiate from the crowd (if you can). Attractive character is how you lead a conversation, speak or present something- some people make daily vlogs and people love to watch them because there is something attractive when you look…
The same story as blogging- make sure you pick a niche you like to make videos about. Video marketing is also what I call “real estate online” because you publish a video once and content may stay on the top for a long time, so people can find and watch it over and over again.
P.S. The same video can be posted on other platforms like the Facebook page, Instagram, and others, this way gaining even more popularity/authority for you.
There are several types of videos you can make: film yourself in front of the camera, make a video of something you’re doing but not even showing yourself, or just screencasting your computer screen and showing something you do over your shoulder.

3. Start a podcast
Yeah, I understand: you don’t like to write and you’re shy of the camera, but can you just record a voice and publish it? This is the third type of internet real estate I prefer. There are many platforms like iTunes, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, and others to publish on.
Creating content on your own is great, yet if you want you can ask other people to share their own personal experiences, to talk with you making the podcast even more interesting for the audience to listen to.
What you need is a microphone and you’re ready to start, sound matters, and people must hear clear voices.
In my personal opinion, it is a bit harder to create a good podcast depending on the niche because the majority of people have good photo memory. This means they will remember more what they see rather than listen. However, I often listen to podcasts or audiobooks while walking outside or driving a car.
4. Affiliate marketing
I like Affiliate marketing as a business model: you don’t need to have a product, take care of customer service, refunds, no upkeep or manufacturing expenses- this eliminates a lot of headaches.
- Annual affiliate marketing spending is estimated at US$12 billion
- Affiliate marketing spending is expected to grow by 10% in the next few years.
- 15% of the total digital media advertising revenue is attributed to affiliate marketing.
- Affiliate programs generate 15%–30% of all sales for advertisers.
You can sell various things like info products, software, services, or physical products. Many marketplaces to choose from depending on your ideal position: Amazon, eBay, ClickBank, Share a Sale, CJ Affiliate, and many others.

5. Build email list
Email Marketing is the most effective asset to keep in touch with your customers. It helps you deliver the right content at the right time to the right audience. Imagine having 20 000 people on your email list- it is like a full football O2 arena in London and you can send them a message with a click of a button. If these contacts are segmented by interests (football fans in this example) what message they might be interested in?- you could sell them everything related like tickets to the next football match, sports equipment, players biography books, etc.
The list belongs to you, you are not dependent on others because one day Facebook, Instagram, and other social platforms may shut down, but you still will be able to get sales.
